Lying adjacent to the mighty River Spey in the Cairngorms National Park, Boat of Garten lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty, centrally located in the Highlands of Scotland. The perfect place from which to explore the Highlands or simply unwind.
The Cottage is a great base for outdoor people, with activities for all levels of experience. You can also choose from climbing, walking, bird watching, horse riding, biking, skiing, golfing, fishing, rafting, canoeing and sailing, and much more. Here is a snapshot of what is on offer:
Cairngorm Mountain which you can see from the farm road beside the cottage is Scotland’s most popular ski centre. You can visit the mountain whatever the time of year and enjoy the activities on offer there including skiing, snowboarding, tubing, walking to the summit which is only 400m from the top station via the funicular railway
Some of Scotland’s most beautiful and challenging golf courses are within a short drive with Boat of Garten Golf Club, “the Gleneagles of the North”, about 3 minutes drive away whilst the championship course, Spey Valley, is on the north side of Aviemore where you will get fantastic views of the Cairngorms from all of the holes. In addition there are great courses at Grantown on Spey and the scenic 9 hole courses at Nethy Bridge and Carrbridge.
A favourite for kids and lots of adults is Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge is superb for kids (8 miles).You can sky dive, ride a timber rollercoaster, slide down at speed the water slides, high tree adventure and much more.
Rothiemurchus ( https://rothiemurchus.net ) offers a whole host of exciting outdoor activities. Some that can be enjoyed with your two feet firmly planted on the floor, such as; Archery, Wildlife Photography. However, for those that enjoy something slightly more exhilarating a few feet above the land, there is pony trekking, or quad bike trekking, woodland safari tours to name but a few

Nestled in Abernethy, the Loch Garten Nature Centre is the perfect spot to experience an ancient Caledonian forest, watch the birds, red squirrels and ospreys in the amazing forest.
